Content: The brothers Franco (Franco Franchi) and Ciccio (Ciccio Ingrassia) run a service-station in the boonies, including snackbar, privy, filling station for horses, horsewash and an automat, spitting out bullets instead of toys or chewing gum. The station is really jumping, what attracts several mob. As a violent couple tries to steal the cash, the brothers are slapped out by Calamity Jane, who comes along not quite accidentially: Jane is the aunt of Franco and Cicchio, who gives them a wooden amulet of their murdered father, which shows the hideout of a treasure. Whereas auntie takes over business provisional, the brothers start their treasure hunt. This doesn’t remain a secret for a long time: Pretty soon the professional player Armstrong (Franco Ressel) and his sweetheart Lola (Lucretia Love) try to get the amulet.
| The Gunslinger says: US comedians William Abbott and Lou Costello started to josh numerous film classics and blockbusters of nearly all genres in the 40s: a fad, which is picked up around ten years later by the Italians Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia. It was only a question of time, until the SW finds itself in the spotlight of the active comedians. “Two Sons of Trinity” is the last but one in a row of many SW comedies by Franco and Ciccio. In the first third of the film we see a losse succession of slapstick scenes, as regards contents only connected by the venue. Sartana (Pietro Torrisi) for example gets a shower of excrements on the toilet of the station, and Ringo (Bruno Ariè), who needs a new mount, has to ride on a donkey to his next shoot-out. After that there’s the story around the treasure hunt, which anyhow follows a central theme, until finally a biiig brawl with the gang of Chines Chin Chin Chan (Angelo Susani) relieves the spectator. This is only moderately amusing, because the concentration of gags is too low and the gurning of especially Franco tires in the long run. Nice camerawork.
