Dart Clonewater Jr. (Giancarlo Prete), chief of all philanderers in the smalltown of Cheese Valley, is fledged. So time has come to change his culchie’s being against a career as Texas Ranger. After a biiiig cake fight he starts out to find three former comrades of his dead father, who was a Ranger too: McAthos (Luigi Montefiori), Aramirez (Leo Anchoriz) and Portland (Cris Huerta) live in forced retirement a deadbeat’s life. During a saloon brawl they acquaint with each other between loose teeth and masses of wrecked furniture. Dart convinces the boys to help him, taking over the escort for a transport of medicine, heading for Mexico and led by beautiful Dr. Alice Ferguson (Karin Schubert). But Alice in fact works for the sinister and greedy banker LeDuc (Eduardo Fajardo), who tries to smuggle some gold, masked as pharmaceuticals over the Mexican border to support a Mexican dictator. McAthos, Aramirez and Portland smell the rat really fast and try to acquire the dough for themselves. Like the false doctor does ;-). But Dart likes to support “La Revolución” with the gold bars.

The Gunslinger says:

Bruno Corbucci tried to transfer the famous story of Dumas’ Musceteers in the West. And he fails completely because of the lack of inspiration, wit and tempo.
It’s astonishing to me, folx, because with his four main actors Corbucci has shown the right touch and actually has reaped more than half of the rewards. But the script fails to develop own ideas and to challenge the boys appropriately or even to serve some well done gags. But the squirrel monkey, which scratches its ass just before Fajardo’s face, really goes :-).
Technically the whole flick is well made, but without inspiration. To me it seems like a crude potpourri, taken from better examples: from the cake fight to different funny brawls up to kung fu fighting and the bizarre characters. Something for the junk press.
