Content:

1865 the American civil war slowly comes to an end. Thus weapon dealer Mallek (Andrea Bosic) sees his hopes dashed. Therefore he hires a gang of cutthroats, in order to bump off two generals of the Yankees and the Southern States, who should prepare peace negotiation. But unfortunately two of the boys had raped and murdered the sister of notorious gunslinger Clayton (Craig Hill). In the course of his mandatory revenge campaign Clayton throws some spanners in Mallek's works and finally carries off the whole dough. Together with beautiful Aloma (Lea Massari) he looks forward to a well situated retirement.

The Gunslinger says:

Good and quite tough Spaghettiwestern, made by Paolo Bianchini in 1967. A consistent atmosphere, the straight story (script: Carlos Arabier) and a good music score (Nico Fidenco) lift this joint much above average. The singer of the titlesong reminds me of Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane).
Even if
Clayton is not primarily interested in the money: Finally he creeps through the dollar bills, whirling in the wind, and snatches up as much as he can to put it into his saddle bag.

Rating: $$$$-

Bodycount:

Bodycount: 25 Gringos, 1 Mexican, 2 Women

Explicit Brutalities:

  • Mallek stubs out a cigar on the hand of his henchman Jack Blunt (José Manuel Martin) because this came too late.
  • Jack Blunt and Harry Dunn violate Clayton's sister and kill her
  • The Sheriff and his Deputies beat up Clayton brutally, because he shot the Sheriff's brother in self-defence
  • Clayton kills the mute Maurie, who guards Malleks farm, with a stone, although the poor devil is already unconscious
  • Mallek's boys treat young women with the whip to make them amenable
  • Jack Blunt and his men give Clayton the stick: Djangos face comes in close contact with a lively flickering chimney fire and a gun butt. Subsequently the bandits bind Django on a chair and ignite the hut.

  • Clayton lets play Jack Blunt a game of Russian roulette
  • Blunt's men run over the wounded Mallek maliciously with a stagecoach

Luv':

Clayton does not only love his sister. He's also interested in Aloma, although she has to crawl on her knees, until Clayton takes her along: 2/10
