Content: Jim Latimore has got some hard times as a gringo in Mexico. First he owns a hacienda, which the rich and unscrupulous Gonzales bros. (Evaristo Maran, Ferdinando Poggi) wanna get. Second he treats his peones as humans: not exactly the mexican style. Finally the Gonzales cousin Rosaria (Monica Randall) has married the gringo instead of her elder cousin. So the Gonzales‘ feel impelled to engage sadistic Matanza (Antonio Molino Rojo) and his gang of cutthroats. Things work out fine for the Mexicanos: Jim-Boy dies in a hail of bullets, whereas the bandidos kidnap Rosaria and her son Pablo. The Gonzales‘ force Rosaria to leave home and child, who has to live from now on at his evil uncles. But now Jim’s five former friends enter the scene (Guy Madison, José Manuel Martin, Vasili Karis, Mariano Vidal Molina, Giovanni Cianfriglia). They help the widow to regain redress and avenge their dead compadre.
| The Gunslinger says: Well, folx, this isn´t, what I would call a masterpiece. The story doesn’t tell anything new, and there are some atmospherical blunders. Like the nice little green forest, situated exactly near a hot and dusty desert. Anyhow we see capable actors and hear some good music by Carlo Savina. Furthermore there are some nice shots, i.e. the idea, to synchronize the pictures of a deserted village before a shoot-out with a ringing churchbell. Not as that new, but quite effective.
| Rating: $$$-
| Bodycount: ca. 50 Mexicans, 1 Gringo | Explicit Brutalities: - The Gonzales‘ flog one of Jim‘s peones. Finally the hang him up in front of the church.
- Rosaria is beaten up and raped by her cousins
- The Matanza bandidos destroy two stagecoachs and kill a bunch of settlers for pure fun
- The five friends and Rosaria are caught by the Matanza gang and are pegged in the blazing sun
