Content: Mexicano chief El Diablo (José Torres) is somewhat like a rustler deluxe: He raids cattle drives on order, kills the whole crew and sells cattle or horses to his Mexican “clients”. He gets hints for this raids by saloon singer Rosario (Mila Stanic), who is in love with Francisco Webb (Ivano Staccioli), son of the sheriff (Attilio Dottesio) of Canyon City, an unhappy jerkwater town close to the border. But Webb and Rosario wanna get really rich by assaulting an announced gold-transport, passing Canyon City in a few days. To realize their plan they need El Diablo, who hesitates, because he knows about the “abilities” of his losers. With a bit of ass shaking and some false promises Rosario brings the lagging bandido into line, but meanwhile a stranger (Carl Möhner) has arrived into town. Jeff Benson, how he is called, is a fast gun and anxious to cross the evil plans.
| The Gunslinger says: First attempt of walking in the SW genre by Gianfranco Baldanello, which ends as half successful as most of his following efforts. Explicit excluded is his best western “Black Jack”, a minor masterpiece. “30 Winchester…” is a solid staged flick, which commits a deadly sin: it bores. It’s not, because there’s a lack of action, no, it’s just because it’s mean with surprises and its consequent good-evil-dramaturgy. Whereas Carl Möhner completes this prove in a passable way, is Antonio Garisa as daffing his sidekick Jerry only gruesome and redundant. Ivano Staccioli and José Torres are weak rogues: Both made better performances later on. The US-american look and the appropriate lame love-story between Benson and Barbara Webb (Alessandra Pannaro) are no enrichments too. The ponderous musical title-theme by obscure composer Ghant with its trumpets and acoustic guitars is enjoyable. | Rating: $$
| Bodycount: ca. 21 Gringos, ca. 70 Mexicanos, 1 Woman | Explicit Brutalities: - The Bandidos let the captured Jerry „dance“, but before they can kill him, Benson rescues his life. From now on the viewer has to deal with the bothersome buffoon
- Jeff is beaten up by some Mexicans and Blacky (Guglielmo Spoletini), Webb’s right hand
| Luv': Between Jeff and Barbara a virginal-dry love-story unfolds. There’s a bit more fire between Francisco and Rosario, but only a bit: 2/10
| Gore: 2/10
